Sussex Improved
Outstanding proven outdoor eggplant. Typical teardrop shaped fruit, and a very glossy dark purple - black colour. A good robust plant habit with good cover. Sussex Improved sets good fruit numbers weighing 250-300 grams. Eggplants prefer heat and are suited to transplanting from November onwards. There is a possibility to plant earlier, but some sort of cover will be required. Exact transplant and harvest times will depend on location and season. Photo below: Sussex Improved
Purple Long
Earlier maturing variety under warm conditions. A vigorous plant with good leaf cover. A slightly taller plan t than Sussex Improved. Fruit are elongated at 20-25cm length and weighing 200-300g. Fruit colour are deep aubergine colour with a bright green calyx. Photo below: Purple Long
